o The friendly series against Newbury proved a successful campaign over the 2 hotly contested matches. In the best of 3 set matches, Newbury's experience shone through in the end as they ran out winners 2-0 on both occasions. This was however another couple of games under the belt for the Women who pushed Newbury closely in the majority of the sets. It was pleasing to see the improvement in team play but also team spirit in the 2nd leg. This all bodes well for the start of the season with the women continuing to rack the games up as they aim to up their standard in preparation for match day 1 (September 28th 2008). It was great a great experience too for the incoming players of the squad, who filled in for the regulars who were sadly absent through injury and annual holidays. This just goes to show the strength in depth and the bright future of the squad, whose current average is 20 years old!
